As we gear up to celebrate the 4th of July, I’m excited to introduce a special design: the Lady Liberty Amigurumi! This pattern is a fun and creative way to honor Independence Day with yarn and love. Made with care and simple stitches, it’s perfect for patriotic decor or as a thoughtful handmade gift for someone who adores iconic landmarks. Let’s celebrate freedom with a little crochet magic!

Cuddle-Size Version Available
This Lady Liberty amigurumi is a smaller version of my Cuddle-Size Lady Liberty and comes with a step-by-step video tutorial to help you through every detail. Both versions are beginner-friendly and made to celebrate one of the most recognizable symbols of liberty and hope, with a handmade twist!

The ad-free PDF includes two versions: one with detailed instructions and step-by-step photos, and another print-friendly text-only.
Materials
- 2mm crochet hook
- Light green yarn and a little bit of yellow for the torch. I used 100% cotton, sports yarn. The brand used for this toy is a local brand that I purchased in the shop nearby. For similar yarn with the same quality and thickness, I recommend this one, which I also use for many of my toys.
- Black thread for embroidering the eyes.
- Stuffing material
- Scissors
- Sewing needle.
- Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.
Finish size
The finished Lady Liberty amigurumi measures approximately 5 inches (13 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With sport-weight yarn and a 2mm crochet hook, the gauge for 5 rounds (increasing to 30 stitches) measures approximately 1.6″ (4.5 cm).
Useful Crochet Tutorials
Before we start, I leave a link to all the stitches tutorials I used to complete this pattern. If you are a complete beginner or not familiar with some techniques, there is a blog post with step-by-step images with descriptions, and video tutorials.
Terms and abbreviations (US terms):
Single crochet (sc): insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop yarn over the needle, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle, and pull it through the two loops.
Increase (inc): make two single crochet inside the same stitch.
Decrease (dec): Insert hook into front loop only of next two stitches, yarn under, pull through, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through both loops on the hook.
Back loop Slip stitch (blsl): Insert hook into the back loop only of the stitch, yarn under, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.

FAQ about Crochet Lady Liberty
Yes, you’re welcome to sell the finished items you make using my patterns. Just please don’t copy, repost, or sell the pattern itself.
I recommend 100% cotton yarn for structure and durability, especially since if they are often handled. But you can experiment, just keep your tension tight.
Absolutely. You can use any yarn you like, just be sure to adjust your hook size to match the yarn so you don’t end up with loose gaps and see-through holes in your stitches. See the Cuddle Size Lady Liberty pattern for reference!

Hi Ana!
This is so cute! I got started on it right away 🙂
I think there may be an error in row 34 of the body. I believe it should say repeat 4 times.
As always, thank you for sharing your work! Hope you are spending lots of quality time with baby!
