Little Elf free amigurumi pattern

Materials:

  • 1,75mm or 2mm crochet hook 
  • Green, white, red and brown 100% cotton sports weight yarn. The brand I used for this amigurumi is Mondial Lane basic cotton. For similar yarn with the same quality and thickness, I recommend this one, which I also use for many of my projects.
  • Stuffing material
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle.
  • Embroidery thread
  • Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.

Finish size: 12cm or (about) 4,5 inches

SHIRT DETAIL

We start preparing the detail we will need a little bit later.

With green yarn chain 36 and start crocheting in the first chain, closing a circle.

1 rnd               (1sl, chain 1, 1dc, chain 1) repeat 18 times

• Cut the yarn and fasten off.

BODY

With brown yarn start

1 rnd               6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd               6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd               12bpsc

• Change to white

4 and 5 rnd     12sc

• Cut the yarn and fasten off.

• Make another one following the same instructions.

• Don’t fasten off the second leg, change to red color and connect the two legs by inserting the loop of the needle inside one stitch of the first leg, following,

6 rnd               24sc (12 from each leg)

7 rnd               (1sc, 1inc) repeat 12 times Total 36sts

• Change to white

8 and 9 rnd     36sc

• Change back to red

10 and 11 rnd 36sc

• Change to green color yarn

12 rnd             36sc connecting with the leaves

13 and 14 rnd 36sc

15 rnd             (4sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 30sts

16 rnd            (3sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

17 rnd             (2sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 18sts 

• Change to beige tone

18 rnd             18blsl

19 rnd             FL(3sc, 2 inc, 2sc, 2 inc, 5sc, 2inc, 2sc, 2inc, 2sc)  Total 26sts

ps: 2 inc = 3sc in same st

20 rnd             4sc, 2inc, 4sc, 2inc, 7sc, 2inc, 4sc, 2inc, 3sc Total 34sts

21 rnd             5sc, 2inc, 6sc, 2inc, 9sc, 2inc, 6sc, 2inc, 4sc Total 42sts

22 to 29 rnd   42sc

30 rnd             (5sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 36sts

31 rnd             (4sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 30sts

32 rnd             (3sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

33 rnd             (2sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

• Stop here for finish stuffing the Elf.

34 rnd             (1sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 12sts

• Cut the yarn and fasten off.

HAT

With white yarn start,

1 rnd               6sc in a magic ring

2 and 3 rnd     6sc

• Change to red

4 rnd               6inc Total 12sts

5 and 6 rnd     12sc

• Change to white

7 rnd               (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

8 and 9 rnd                 18sc

• Change to red

10 rnd             (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

11 rnd             24sc

• Change to white

12 rnd             (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 30sts

13 rnd             30sc

• Change to red

14 rnd             (4sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 36sts

15 rnd             36sc

• Change to white

16 rnd             (5sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 42sts

17 rnd             42sc

• Change to red

18 and 19 rnd 42sc

• Change to white color yarn,

20 rnd             42hdc

• Cut the yarn and fasten off.

HAT TOP

With green color yarn start

1 rnd               6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd               6inc Total 12sts

3 to 6 rnd       12sc

• Cut the yarn and fasten off.

• Leave a small tail and sew it on top of the hat.

ARMS

With beige yarn of your choice start,

1 rnd               5sc in a magic ring

2 rnd               5inc Total 10sts

3 rnd               10sc

• Change to green color yarn

4 to 9  rnd      10sc

• Cut the yarn and fasten off.

• Leave a small tail for sewing it.

• Make another one following the same instructions.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Sew the arms at row 17.
  2. Embroider the eyes in round 25 leaving 4 stitches distance between them.
  3. Crochet the ears by making: chain 4, 1sl, 1sc, 1dc (make two of them)
  4. Sew the ears in round 26, 5 stitches away from the eyes
  5. With red color yarn and sewing needle, embroider two X in the central part of his shirt, starting two rows under the neck, leaving one row between them.
  6. With brown color yarn, embroider hair strings. Starting in round 27, and going up to his head (here, it doesn’t matter how high you embroider, it will be covered with the hat, only rounds 27 and 28 will be seen with the hair detail).
  7. Add the hat, and sew the hat on the Elf’s head.

    • Hey Joanne, the pattern is available on the website for free. There is a printable version available to download in my shop on Ravelry and Etsy, but there is no option to download from there in the website!
