Meet the Card Soldier and the Complete Wonderland Collection
This Card Soldier is the sixth and final pattern in the Wonderland Collection — and he fits right in with his quirky charm! The full collection includes the mischievous Cheshire Cat, the curious White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, sweet Alice, the Queen of Hearts, and now, the loyal Ace of Hearts. Together, they bring the magic of Wonderland to life, one stitch at a time… and I hope you enjoy every stitch as much as I enjoyed designing each little friend in this magical set!

- Scissors
- Sewing needle.
- Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.

The finished amigurumi Card Soldier measures approximately 5,5″ (14 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.
Useful Crochet Tutorials
Before we start, I leave a link to all the stitches tutorials I used to complete this pattern. If you are a complete beginner or not familiar with some techniques, there is a blog post with step-by-step images with descriptions, and video tutorials.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With sport-weight yarn and a 2mm crochet hook, the gauge for 5 rounds (increasing to 30 stitches) measures approximately 1.6″ (4.5 cm).

Tip: here, feel free to add a single crochet around if the detail starts to curl. It won’t impact the finished product, since you will sew this detail on the back of the card soldier later.

Assembly
- To sew the arms, place the foundation chain of the finished card facing up, and sew the arms in the corner.
- Sew the shoes on the opposite side, with the center of the shoes connecting with the tip corner of the card.
- With the help of the pins, sew the heart in the central position of the card.
- Sew the head in the center of the top card.
- With the same red thread, embroider the A on the top left corner of the card. Turn the card upside down and embroider the other A.
- Turn the card, and sew the dark yellow back detail.
Tip: If you need help with the assembly, watch the video part 3.
