Let’s start this Wonderland adventure with the one who started it all — the mischievous Cheshire Cat! This Cheshire Cat amigurumi, with his wide grin, fuzzy stripes, and quirky energy, he was the very first character I designed for the Wonderland Collection. I loved bringing his personality to yarn with bold colors and that unmistakable smile.

Meet the Cheshire Cat Amigurumi and the Wonderland
This mischievous grin is just the beginning! The Cheshire Cat is the first pattern in the Wonderland Collection, which also includes the quirky Mad Hatter, the always-late White Rabbit, curious Alice, the bold Queen of Hearts, and the loyal Card Soldier (Ace of Hearts). Each one brings a little more magic from Wonderland to your crochet hook!

Useful Crochet Tutorials
Before we start, I leave a link to all the stitches tutorials I used to complete this pattern. If you are a complete beginner or not familiar with some techniques, there is a blog post with step-by-step images with descriptions, and video tutorials.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With sport-weight yarn and a 2mm crochet hook, the gauge for 5 rounds (increasing to 30 stitches) measures approximately 1.6″ (4.5 cm).

TIP: If your starting stitch is in a different position than mine, the arms will be in a different position. To avoid that, find the 5 central stitches in the front of the doll. This should be the distance between one arm and another. Having these 5 central stitches, adjust the position of where you should crochet together the arm with the body.

- Repeat rounds 8 to 11 one more time
- Change to light pink
16-17 rnd 6sc
- Cut the yarn, fasten off and leave a tail for sewing it.

Assembly
- Sew the ears between rounds 28 and 32 of the head.
- Fasten the mouth with pins to help you while sewing. Place the mouth between rounds 21 and 22 of the head (or two rounds above the neck), finishing 6 rounds up.
- Embroider the eyes on round 28 of the toy, leaving 2 stitches between them. With yellow, embroider one line on the outside of the eye.
- With a piece of dark pink yarn, embroider the nose on top of the mouth, one round under the eyes.
- For the final detail, cut a little bit of dark pink yarn and add it on top of the head. I add about 10 pieces. Once you add them, use a comb or the needle to fuzz the yarn. Then, cut the extra fuzzy yarn to the size of the hair you want (about the same height or a bit more than the ears).

Hi!
Can you please provide the name of the yarn you used? You mention a cotton, light yarn, yet you also mention a sport yarn?
Hey Celina, sure!
For this Cheshire Cat I used a yarn called Amigurumi Circulo, from Brazil.
A similar yarn with same thickness is Hobbii Friends for example, or Catania! I hope that helps!
