Chubby Valentine Bee free amigurumi pattern

Materials:

  • 2mm crochet hook 
  • Yellow, black and white fingering cotton yarn for the bee. And red for the heart.
  • Black thread for embroidering the eyes. 
  • Stuffing material
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle.
  • Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.

Finish size: 9cm / 3,5 inches with the antennas

HEART

With brown color yarn start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  12sc

• Cut the yarn and fasten off.

• Make another one following the same instructions.

• Don’t cut the yarn of the second detail. Instead, crochet together with the previously finished detail.

4 rnd   24sc (12 from one finished detail plus 12 of the one   you were working on it)

5 rnd  24sc

6 rnd  (10sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 22sts

7 rnd  (9sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 20sts

8 rnd  (8sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 18sts

9 rnd  (7sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 16sts

10 rnd  (6sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 14sts

• Stop here for stuffing the heart,

11 rnd  (5sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 12sts

12 rnd  6dec Total 6sts

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and hide the remaining tail inside the heart.

BEE BODY

With yellow start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times  Total 18sts

4 rnd  (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times  Total 24sts

5 rnd  (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times  Total 30sts

6 rnd  (4sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times  Total 36sts

7 rnd  (5sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times  Total 42sts

8 rnd  (6sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times  Total 48sts

9 to 11 rnd  48sc

• Change to black and start working with both colors,

12 to 14 rnd  48sc

• Change back to yellow,

15 to 17 rnd  48sc

• Change to black,

18 to 20 rnd  48sc

• Change back to yellow. From here on, work only with the yellow.

21 rnd  48sc

22 rnd  (6sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times  Total 42sts

23 rnd  (5sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times  Total 36sts

24 rnd  (4sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times  Total 30sts

25 rnd  (3sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

26 rnd  (2sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

• Stop here for stuffing the bee,

27 rnd  (1sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 12sts

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and hide the remaining tail inside the bee.

WINGS

With white color start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

4 rnd  (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

5 rnd  (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 30sts

6 to 9 rnd  30sc

10 rnd  (8sc, 1dec) repeat 3 times Total 27sts

11 and 12 rnd  27sc

13 rnd  (7sc, 1dec) repeat 3 times Total 24sts

14 and 15 rnd  24sc

16 rnd  (4sc, 1dec) repeat 4 times Total 20sts

17 and 18 rnd  20sc

19 rnd  10sc crocheting the sides together, closing the wings.

• Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Leave a small tail for sewing.

• Make another one following the same instructions.

ANTENNAS

With yellow color start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts
3 rnd 4 rnd   12sc
5 rnd    6dec Total 6sts

• Change to black yarn,

6 to 11 rnd  6sc

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and leave a tail for sewing.

• Make another one.

LEGS

With black yarn start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 to 9 rnd  6sc

10 rnd  3sc crocheting the sides together, closing the leg.

• Cut the yarn and fasten if off.

• Leave a small tail for sewing later.

• Make 6 legs in total.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Fasten the legs on the bee’s body. Three legs on one side, and three on the other side. Sew the first leg between rounds 8 and 10. Sew the second leg between rounds 15 to 17 and the third leg right below the second one.
  2. Leave around 18 stitches distance between the legs from one side to another. Or, fasten the heart in the central part of the bee to calculate better where you should sew the legs.
  3. Sew the antennas between rounds 2 to 4 of the top part.
  4. Sew the wings on the back side of the bee, between rounds 14 to 19.
  5. Embroider the eyes on round 8, leaving 3 stitches between them.
