Sharing this special collection with you, the Safari crochet animals! This collection was created especially for my baby girl, with the help of you, readers from Little Crochet Farm. A while back, I asked about which collection should I create for her, and the majority of you voted for a Safari crochet Animals!

Today I share with you this beautiful Zebra amigurumi! One more free amigurumi pattern for the Safari Animals! The collection has 12 crochet animals that slowly will start coming out online! I hope you have some fun crocheting these animals!

Zebra free crochet pattern

Materials:

Finish size: 18cm or (about) 7 inches.

HEAD

With white yarn 106 start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

4 rnd  (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

5 rnd  (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 30sts

6 rnd  (4sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 36sts

7 rnd  (5sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 42sts

8 rnd  (6sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 48sts

9 and 10 rnd  48sc

• Add the black yarn 110 and start working with both colors,

11 rnd  3sc white, 10sc black, 14sc white, 10sc black, 11sc white

12 and 13 rnd  48sc white

14 rnd  3sc white, 10sc black, 14sc white, 10sc black, 11sc white

15 and 16 rnd  48sc white

17 rnd  3sc white, 10sc black, 14sc white, 10sc black, 11sc white

• From here one, continue working only with white 106 color.

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and add stuffing material.

BODY

With white yarn 106 start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

• Change to black,

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and leave a tail for sewing.

• Add stuffing material.

SNOUT

With gray 429 start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  (3inc, 3sc) repeat 2 times Total 18sts

*3inc means 1 inc following by another increase. Two single crochet in the same stitch in the next 3 stitches.

4 and 5 rnd  18sc

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and leave a tail for sewing it.

TAIL

With white yarn chain 9, skip the first chain and start,

1 row  8hdc

• Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Leave a tail for sewing it later.

• Cut 6 pieces of black yarn and attach it at the end of the tail.

EARS

Whith white yarn start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6sc

3 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

4 to 6 rnd  12sc

7 rnd  6sc crocheting the sides together, closing the ear.

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and make another one following the same instructions

• Leave a small tail for sewing

PAWS

With dark gray 429 start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

4 and 5 rnd  18sc

6 rnd  (1sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 12sts

• Change to white color

7 and 8 rnd  12sc

• Change to black

9 rnd  12sc

• Change back to white

10 and 11 rnd  12sc

• Change to black

12 rnd  12sc

• Change back to white,

13 to 15 rnd  12sc

• Stop here to add stuffing material before continuing.

16 rnd  6sc crocheting the sides together, closing the paw.

• Cut the yarn and fasten it off.

• Make another four in total following the same instructions.

• Leave a small tail for sewing it.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Introduce two rounds of the body inside the head. Sew the head taking the second round (counting from top to bottom) of the body.
  2. Sew the top paws in the first round of the body, leaving 5 stitches between one to another.
  3. Sew the down paws in round 10 of the body, leaving 15 stitches between one to another.
  4. Sew the tail in the central part of the back in round 13.
  5. Sew the snout between rounds 12 to 18.
  6. Sew the ears between rounds 3 to 9.
  7. With an embroidering needle, embroider the eyes in round 11 (or one round above the snout) of the face leaving 6 stitches between them.
  8. With the same thread, embroider the eyebrows on the third round above the eye, taking the length of 2 stitches.
  9. OPTIONAL: with pink yarn, make two little lines on its cheeks, one round under the eye, 2 stitches away from the snout.
  10. MANE: Introduce the black yarn in the central part of the head, in round 7 (counting from the beginning of the neck), and start working chain stitches going up straight to the face. Stop 6 rounds before reaching the snout. Now, chain 2, and make 2 double crochet on each of the surface chain stitches you made. Once you reach the last chain stitch, chain 3, cut the yarn and fasten it off.
