- Stuffing material
- Scissors
- Sewing needle.
- Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.

- Rattle noise of your choice (here is what I use).

Finish size
The finished Lion Crochet Teething Ring measures approximately 4″ (10 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With sport-weight yarn and a 2mm crochet hook, the gauge for 5 rounds (increasing to 30 stitches) measures approximately 1.6″ (4.5 cm).

Mane
Attach the dark brown yarn on the surface of the face, behind the ears, one stitch distance from the ear, and start crocheting slip stitch on the surface of the Lion’s face.
Make a circle around the face, passing one stitch distance behind the ears, going down the side of the face until two rounds above the neck, going up again, and meeting the starting position.
Once you arrived behind the ear where you start, chain 2 and start working in hyperbolic form.
Make 2 double crochet inside each surface slip stitch. When you meet the starting position, join with a slip stitch, chain 2, and make 2 double crochet inside each stitch again.
Join with a slip stitch. Cut the yarn, and fasten it off.

1-6 row 20sc, chain one and turn.

- Sew it around the wooden ring, 20 stitches from one side, with 20 stitches from the other side.
Assembly (cont.)
- With dark brown, embroider a triangle on the snout. Once you are done, finish with a little line in the center of the triangle.
- With black thread, embroider the eyes in round 10 of the face (or one round above the snout) and leave 6 stitches between them.
- With the same thread, embroider the eyebrow one round above the eye, with the length of two stitches.
- OPTIONAL: With a white thread, make two lines on the sides of the eyes. With pink thread, embroider one line on each cheek, three stitches distance from the snout.

FAQ – Crochet Lion Teething Pattern
Yes, absolutely! You are welcome to sell finished items made from this pattern. I would ask if possible to credit Little Crochet Farm as the designer. A link back is always appreciated if you sell online.
Definitely! I used sports yarn for mine, but you can absolutely use velvet yarn or acrylic yarn if you’d like a different texture. Just keep in mind that the look and feel will change depending on the yarn you choose. And remember to adjust the needle to the yarn weight.
Yes, you can! Using a larger hook (and matching yarn weight) will make your finished Lion bigger and softer. Just make sure your stitches are tight enough so the stuffing doesn’t show through.
