In this blog post, I share this super cute zebra teether crochet toy and also a rattle! With a complete video tutorial and suitable for amigurumi beginners. And is super easy and fast to crochet!

Zebra teething ring free amigurumi pattern
Materials:
- 2mm crochet hook
- Schachenmayr Catania Sports Yarn weight colors 110, 106 and 429. Or, any sports weight yarn colors black, white and dark gray of your choice!
- Black thread for embroidering the eyes.
- Stuffing material
- Scissors
- Sewing needle.
- Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.
- Wooden ring (I use a 5cm diameter for this pattern, but you can use any size and adapt the blue cover part at the end. I will show you how!).
- Rattle noise of your choice (here is what I use).

HEAD
With white yarn start,
1 rnd 6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 6inc Total 12sts
3 rnd (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
4 rnd (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts
5 rnd (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 30sts
6 rnd (4sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 36sts
7 rnd (5sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 42sts
8 rnd (6sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 48sts
9 and 10 rnd 48sc
• Add the black yarn and start working with both colors,
11 rnd 3sc white, 10sc black, 14sc white, 10sc black, 11sc white
12 and 13 rnd 48sc white
14 rnd 3sc white, 10sc black, 14sc white, 10sc black, 11sc white
15 and 16 rnd 48sc white
17 rnd 3sc white, 10sc black, 14sc white, 10sc black, 11sc white
• From here one, continue working only with white color.
18 rnd 48sc
19 rnd (6sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 42sts
20 rnd (5sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 36sts
21 rnd (4sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 30sts
22 rnd (3sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 24sts
23 rnd (2sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
• Add stuffing material and the rattle noise before continuing to round 24.
24 rnd (1sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 12sts
• Cut the yarn and fasten it off
SNOUT
With gray start,
1 rnd 6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 6inc Total 12sts
3 rnd (3inc, 3sc) repeat 3 times Total 18sts
*3inc means 1 inc following by another increase. Two single crochet in the same stitch in the next 3 stitches.
4 and 5 rnd 18sc
• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and leave a tail for sewing it.
EARS
Whith white yarn start,
1 rnd 6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 6sc
3 rnd 6inc Total 12sts
4 to 6 rnd 12sc
7 rnd 6sc crocheting the sides together, closing the ear.
• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and make another one following the same instructions
• Leave a small tail for sewing
Wood cover
With black color yarn chain 21, skip the first chain and start
1 row 20sc
• Change to white color
2 and 3 row 20sc, chain one and turn.
• Change to black and repeat rows 1 to 3 one more time.
7 row 20sc
• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and leave a tail for sewing.
NOTE: if the wooden ring you are working on is bigger in length, add more chains to the detail. If the wooden ring is thicker, add more rows!
• Sew it around the wooden ring, 20 stitches from one side, with 20 stitches from the other side.
ASSEMBLY
- Sew the snout between rounds 12 to 18.
- Sew the ears between rounds 3 to 9.
- With an embroidering needle, embroider the eyes in round 11 (or one round above the snout) of the face leaving 6 stitches between them.
- With the same thread, embroider the eyebrows on the third round above the eye, taking the length of 2 stitches.
- OPTIONAL: with pink yarn, make two little lines on its cheeks, one round under the eye, 2 stitches away from the snout.
- MANE: Introduce the black yarn in the central part of the head, in round 7 (counting from the beginning of the neck), and start working chain stitches going up straight to the face. Stop 6 rounds before reaching the snout. Now, chain 2, and make 2 double crochet on each of the surface chain stitches you made. Once you reach the last chain stitch, chain 3, cut the yarn and fasten it off.
