No-Sew Crochet Puppy Pug Free Pattern

Say hello to the newest member of the No-sew Little Crochet Farm, the No-sew Puppy Pug free pattern! This fluffy little cutie was chosen with love by my amazing Patreon supporters and newsletter readers (you all have the best taste, seriously!). Just like the bee and cow from the same series, this puppy is a no-sew amigurumi, super fast to make, and the perfect palm-sized project at around 6 inches tall.

This new collection celebrates everything I love about no-sew crochet: quick projects, zero assembly, and maximum cuteness. If you’re into farm animals, easy-to-follow photo tutorials, and soft squishable toys that come together in no time, you’re going to love what’s coming next!

Materials:

Finished Size

The finished amigurumi puppy measures approximately 6″ (16 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.

Gauge

Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.

However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With super bulky-weight chenille yarn and a 6mm crochet hook, the gauge for 4 rounds (increasing to 24 stitches) measures approximately 2.5″ (5 cm).

For a low-cost and ad-free printable pattern, you can find it in Ravelry here! And on Etsy here!

Terms and abbreviations (US terms):

Slip stitch (sl): insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop, now, pull it through the loop on your needle.

Single crochet (sc): insert the hook into the stitch, and pull up a loop yarn over the needle, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle, and pull it through the two loops.

Half double Crochet (hdc): yarn over the needle, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over the needle, and pull inside all loops on the needle.

Double Crochet (dc): yarn over the needle, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over the needle, pull through the first two loops of your needle, yarn over the needle, inside all loops on the needle.

Bobble stitch (BO): Yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through two loops (like starting a double crochet). Repeat this process five times in the same stitch, so you will have 6 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops. Gently tug the stitch to pop the bobble outward.

Increase (inc): make two single crochet inside the same stitch.

Decrease (dec): Insert the hook into the front loop only of the next two stitches, yarn under, and pull through, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through both loops on the hook.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Snout: using black sports weight yarn and a tapestry needle, embroider the snout between the bobble stitches of round 9.
  2. Eyes: still using the black yarn, embroider the eyes one round above the snout (round 8), leaving about 4 stitches between them.
  3. Eyebrows: embroider each eyebrow one round above the eyes and one stitch to the outside of each eye.
  4. Eye highlights: with a small piece of white sports weight yarn, embroider a short line on the outside corner of each eye for a cute little sparkle effect.
  5. Optional – Tongue: if you’d like, use a bit of pink chenille yarn to embroider a tiny tongue under the snout for extra cuteness!
