No-Sew Crochet Duck Free Pattern

Waddling its way into the No-Sew Little Crochet Farm… meet the newest feathery friend: the No-sew Crochet Duck! I won’t lie, getting this little one just right took a few tweaks; those tiny wings were more stubborn than expected! But once that sweet, squishy face came together, it was love at first stitch. Like its farmyard buddies, the bee, cow, puppy pug, and pig, this no-sew amigurumi duck is quick to crochet, totally beginner-friendly, and the perfect palm-sized dose of cuteness at about 6.5 inches tall.

This growing collection makes me smile every time I pick up my hook. It’s everything I love about crochet: speedy, stress-free patterns with no sewing and all the fun! If you’re craving joyful, easy-to-follow amigurumi with step-by-step photo support (and a soft spot for farm animals), you’re in for a treat. And let’s just say… the duck isn’t the last one to join the flock!

Materials:

Finished Size

The finished amigurumi duck measures approximately 6.5″ (17 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.

Gauge

Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.

However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With super bulky-weight chenille yarn and a 6mm crochet hook, the gauge for 4 rounds (increasing to 24 stitches) measures approximately 2.5″ (5 cm).

Terms and abbreviations (US terms):

Slip stitch (sl): insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop, now, pull it through the loop on your needle.

Single crochet (sc): insert the hook into the stitch, and pull up a loop yarn over the needle, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle, and pull it through the two loops.

Half double Crochet (hdc): yarn over the needle, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over the needle, and pull inside all loops on the needle.

Double Crochet (dc): yarn over the needle, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over the needle, pull through the first two loops of your needle, yarn over the needle, inside all loops on the needle.

Treble Crochet (tr): yarn over the needle twice, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over the needle, pull through the first two loops on your needle, yarn over the needle again, pull through the next two loops, yarn over once more, and pull through the last two loops on your needle.

Bobble stitch (BO): Yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through two loops (like starting a double crochet). Repeat this process five times in the same stitch, so you will have 6 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops. Gently tug the stitch to pop the bobble outward.

Increase (inc): make two single crochet inside the same stitch.

Decrease (dec): Insert the hook into the front loop only of the next two stitches, yarn under, and pull through, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through both loops on the hook.

  • Before we continue, we will crochet the chains to extend the body and form the tail.
  • Chain 4, skip the first chain, and make 3 single crochets. Join with a single crochet into the last stitch of round 14.
  • For round 15, skip the first stitch (since you already joined with a single crochet, this acts as an increase), and begin working in the second stitch of round 15 as follows:

15 rnd                   (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 30sts

Note: You will now be working around the chains you just made, completing the round.

  • For the next round, you will work the Bobble stitch in dark yellow, crocheting through the front loop only. The single crochets should be made as usual, inserting the hook through both loops of the stitch.
  • If your starting stitch is positioned differently than mine, the little paws might not be centered. In that case, to ensure proper alignment, identify the 6 central stitches on the duck’s body, this should be the gap between the two paws. Adjust round 19 accordingly to maintain symmetry.

WINGS

The distance between one ear and the other should be about 5 stitches apart.

Left Wing:

With the duck facing your left hand, attach the yellow yarn between rounds 14 and 15 of the body. Find the 3 stitches that align behind the feet. Introduce the needle and yellow yarn in the last of these 3 stitches and start crocheting going forward from there.

Chain 2, 3dc, chain 2.

  • Cut the yarn and fasten it off.

Chain 2, 3dc, chain 2.

  • Cut the yarn and fasten it off.

BEAK

Find the 3 central stitches of the face between rounds 8 and 9. Introduce the needle and dark yellow yarn and start crocheting:

FEATHER TUFT

With yellow yarn, introduce the needle at the top of the duck’s head and chain 4. Skip the first chain and make 3 slip stitches. Join with a slip stitch anywhere on the top of the head. Repeat this process 2 more times until you have 3 feather strands on top. Cut the yarn and fasten it off.

ASSEMBLY

  1. With black thread, embroider the eyes in round 8, at the edges of the beak.
  2. With the same thread, embroider two lines for the eyebrows, two rounds above the eyes, each 2 stitches long.
  3. With white thread, embroider the outline of the eyes.
