Prefer a PDF Version Of this Pattern?
The ad-free PDF includes two versions: one with detailed instructions and step-by-step photos, and another print-friendly text-only.
Materials:
- 6mm crochet hooks,
- Super Bulky chenille yarn. I used Hobbii Snuggle Baby colors brown, yellow and white. About 50g of the main color (yellow) and a very small amount of yarn for the other colors.
- Black and white sports-weight yarn to embroider the eyes,
- Sewing needle,
- Stuffing material hypoallergenic polyester,
- Scissors
Finished Size
The finished amigurumi bee measures approximately 6.2″ (16 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With super bulky-weight chenille yarn and a 6mm crochet hook, the gauge for 4 rounds (increasing to 24 stitches) measures approximately 2.5″ (5 cm).
Useful Crochet Tutorials
Before we start, I leave a link to all the stitches tutorials I used to complete this pattern. If you are a complete beginner or not familiar with some techniques, there is a blog post with step-by-step images with descriptions, and video tutorials.
Terms and abbreviations (US terms):
Slip stitch (sl): insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop, now, pull it through the loop on your needle.
Single crochet (sc): insert the hook into the stitch, and pull up a loop yarn over the needle, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle, and pull it through the two loops.
Half double Crochet (hdc): yarn over the needle, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over the needle, and pull inside all loops on the needle.
Double Crochet (dc): yarn over the needle, insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over the needle, pull through the first two loops of your needle, yarn over the needle, inside all loops on the needle.
Increase (inc): make two single crochet inside the same stitch.
Decrease (dec): Insert the hook into the front loop only of the next two stitches, yarn under, and pull through, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through both loops on the hook.
Especial Stitches
Bobble stitch (BO): Yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through two loops (like starting a double crochet). Repeat this process five times in the same stitch, so you will have 6 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops. Gently tug the stitch to pop the bobble outward.

No-sew Bee Pattern Instructions
Head
With a yellow start,

3 rnd (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
4 rnd (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

11 rnd (3sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 24sts
12 rnd (2sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
13 rnd 18blsl
- Stop here to begin adding stuffing material before continuing with the next rounds.
- Change to brown yarn. From this point on, you’ll be working with both brown and yellow yarn, alternating colors as indicated.
- For round 14, crochet into the remaining front loops of round 12. This will cause round 13 to be hiding inside the toy.

Body
14 rnd [brown] FL(2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts
- For the next round, you’ll be working the Bobble stitch in white, crocheting through the front loop only. The single crochet stitches should be worked as usual.
- If your starting stitch is positioned differently than mine, the little paws may not be centered. If that is the case, to ensure proper alignment, identify the 6 central stitches on the bee’s body. This should be the gap between the two paws. Adjust round 15 accordingly to maintain symmetry.
15 rnd [yellow] 8sc, [white] 1Flbo, [yellow] 6sc, [white] 1Flbo, [yellow] 8sc
16 rnd [brown] 8sc, 1blsc, 6sc, 1blsc, 8sc
17 rnd [yellow] 24sc
18 rnd [brown] 24sc
- Now, you are back to work with yellow and white yarn,
19 rnd [yellow] 8sc, [white] 1Flbo, [yellow] 6sc, [white] 1Flbo, [yellow] 8sc
- Cut the white and yellow yarn and fasten it off.
- Continue working only with brown.
- Finish adding stuffing material.
20 rnd (2sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
21 rnd (1sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 12sts
- Cut the yarn and fasten it off.

Wings
The wings are positioned on the central part of the bee’s back, covering rounds 14 to 17, with a one-stitch gap between them.
Left wing:
Attach the white yarn to a stitch on round 17, slightly to the left of the center of the bee’s back. Remembering the other wing will be there and the stitch gap between them, and begin crocheting upwards.
- Chain 5, skip the first 2 chains, then work: 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.
- Join with a slip stitch into the next round up.
- Chain 7, skip the first 2 chains, then work: 3 dc, 2 sc.
- Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Right wing:
For the right wing, repeat the same steps, but this time start from round 14 and crochet downwards. Be sure to leave a one-stitch gap beside the left wing.
- Chain 7, skip the first 2 chains, then work: 3 dc, 2 sc.
- Join with a slip stitch into the next round down.
- Chain 5, skip the first 2 chains, then work: 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.
- Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Antennas
With brown yarn, insert your hook into a stitch on round 3 of the bee’s head and chain 5. Skip the first 2 chains and work:
1Bo, followed by 2 slip stitches.
Cut the yarn and fasten off.
Repeat the same steps on the other side of the head, leaving a gap of approximately 6 stitches between the two antennas.

Embroidering the face
- With a piece of black sports weight yarn, begin by embroidering the mouth in the center stitch of round 10.
- Next, embroider the eyes on round 9, which is one round above the mouth, leaving 4 stitches between them.
- Using a small piece of white yarn, add a little line on the outer side of each eye to give a shiny, expressive touch.
- If you’d like to add some blush, take a piece of light pink yarn and embroider a short line one round below and one stitch to the side of each eye. This adds a soft, sweet expression to the face.

FAQ – No-Sew Crochet Bee Pattern
Yes, absolutely! You are welcome to sell finished items made from this pattern. I would ask if possible to credit Little Crochet Farm as the designer. A link back is always appreciated if you sell online.
This no-sew Bee is designed with no hard pieces, making it a soft and cuddly toy. But always supervise playtime and make sure to use baby-safe materials if you’re gifting it to little ones. Especially if you are using safety plastic eyes!
Definitely! I used chenille yarn for mine, but you can absolutely use cotton yarn, velvet yarn, or acrylic yarn if you’d like a different texture. Just keep in mind that the look and feel will change depending on the yarn you choose. And remember to adjust the needle to the yarn weight.
Yes, you can! Using a larger hook (and matching yarn weight) will make your finished Bee bigger and softer. Just make sure your stitches are tight enough so the stuffing doesn’t show through.
