Chubby Valentine Bunny free amigurumi pattern

Materials:

  • 2mm crochet hook 
  • Two colors of lightweight fingering cotton yarn for the bunny. And red for the heart.
  • Black thread for embroidering the eyes. 
  • Stuffing material
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle.
  • Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.

BUNNY BODY

With color A start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

4 rnd  (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

5 rnd  (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 30sts

6 rnd  (4sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 36sts

7 rnd  (5sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 42sts

8 rnd  (6sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 48sts

9 to 21 rnd  48sc

22 rnd  (6sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 42sts

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and hide the remaining tail inside the bunny.

BACK PAW

With color B start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

• Change to color A,

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 to 9 rnd  12sc

10 rnd  6sc crocheting the two sides together

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and make another one following the same instructions.

• Leave a tail for sewing it.

FRONT PAW

With color B start,

1 rnd  5sc in a magic ring

• Change to color A

2 rnd  5inc Total 10sts

3 to 9 rnd  10sc

10 rnd  5sc crocheting the two sides together

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and make another one following the same instructions.

• Leave a tail for sewing it.

EARS

With color B start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

• Make another one following the same instructions.

• Don’t cut the yarn of the second detail. Instead, crochet together with the previously finished detail.

4 rnd   24sc (12 from one finished detail plus 12 of the one   you were working on it)

5 rnd  24sc

6 rnd  (10sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 22sts

7 rnd  (9sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 20sts

8 rnd  (8sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 18sts

9 rnd  (7sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 16sts

10 rnd  (6sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 14sts

• Stop here for stuffing the heart,

11 rnd  (5sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 12sts

12 rnd  6dec Total 6sts

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and hide the remaining tail inside the heart.

ASSEMBLY

  1. With the help of pins, fasten the front paws between rounds 10 and 15. Sew them.
  2. Sew the back paws under the front paws.

TIP: use the heart to find the perfect distance between one paw to another.

3. Place the ears on top of the bunny head, and sew it in round 4, leaving 6 stitches distance between them on the front side of the head.

4. Sew the heart between the bunny’s paws.

5. Embroider the eyes at round 8, leaving 3 stitches between them.

6. Embroider the snout one round under the eyes.

7. Optional: use a piece of white color yarn to brighten the eyes. Make one small line on the outside corner of the eye.
