Little Unicorn amigurumi free pattern

Materials:

  • 2mm crochet hook 
  • Two shades of yarn of any color you would like your unicorn to be! One for the body and one for the legs. Two extra shades of yarn for the mane and yellow for the horn. I used 100% cotton, light worsted, 6ply.
  • Black thread for embroidering the eyes. 
  • Stuffing material
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle.
  • Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.

Finish size: 7cm or (about) 3 inches

Terms and abbreviations (US terms):

Single crochet (sc): insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop yarn over the needle, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle, and pull it through the two loops.

Back Loop Single crochet (blsc): insert the hook into the back loop of the stitch, pull up a loop yarn over the needle, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle, and pull it through the two loops.

Increase (inc): make two single crochet inside the same stitch.

Decrease (dec): Insert hook into front loop only of next two stitches, yarn under, pull through, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through both loops on the hook.

Back loop Slip stitch (blsl): Insert hook into the back loop only of the stitch, yarn under, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.

HEAD and BODY

With the main color of your unicorn start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

3 rnd  (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

4 rnd  (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

5 rnd  (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 30sts

6 to 11rnd  30sc

12 rnd  (1sc, 1dec, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

13 rnd  18blsl

•For the next round, you will work in the remaining front loop of round 12.

14 rnd  FL(2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts

15 to 18 rnd  24sc

• For the next round, you will work in the back loop only.

19 rnd  BL(2sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 18sts

20 rnd  (1sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 12sts

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and hide the remaining tail inside the toy.

FRONT PAW

With the contrast color start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 to 4 rnd  6sc

5 rnd  3sc crocheting the sides together, closing the paw.

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and leave a tail for sewing it.

• Make another one following the same instructions.

BACK PAW

With the contrast color start,

1 rnd  6sc in a magic ring

2 rnd  6inc Total 12sts

• Change to the main color of your unicorn

3 to 5 rnd  12sc

6 rnd  6sc crocheting the sides together, closing the paw.

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and leave a tail for sewing it.

• Make another one following the same instructions.

EARS

With the main color start,

1 rnd  3sc in a magic ring

2 rnd   3inc Total 6sts

3 rnd  (2sc, 1inc) repeat 2 times Total 8sts

4 rnd   8sc

5 rnd  3dc, 1hdc, 4sc

• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and leave a tail for sewing it.

• Make another one following the same instructions

NOSE

With the main color chain 5. Skip the first chain and start,

1 rnd    3sc, 4sc in the last st, 2sc, 3sc in the last st Total 12sts

2 and 3 rnd  12sc

• Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Leave a tail for sewing later.

HORN

With yellow chain 5. Skip the first chain and start

1 row  4sl

• Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Leave a small tail for sewing it.

HAIR

With the color of your choince, chain 19. Skip the first chain and start,

1 row  (1inc, 1sc) repeat 9 times

Once you reach the last stitch, chain 19 and repeat row 1.

• Cut the yarn and fasten it off.

• Make another one following the same instructions, using the colors you choose.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Use pins to fasten the back paws under the unicorn’s body. Sew it under the unicorn.
  2. Sew the arms taking 3 rounds from the body. Starting in round 14 and finishing in round 16.
  3. Sew the ears in round 2 of the head, taking 4 rounds in length.
  4. Sew the nose two rounds above the neck, going up 4 rounds.
  5. Sew the mane in the first round of the head. If you want, you can organize the mane and give it a few stitches to tighten it up.
  6. Sew the horn in the center of round 4.
  7. Embroider the eyes one round above the nose, leaving 3 stitches between them.
  8. Take two pieces of the colors you crochet the hair with the length of 14cm / 5,5 inches and attach them in the center of the back.
