Crochet Snuggle Bunny Free Pattern
I’m beyond excited to finally share this one-of-a-kind Snuggle Bunny free crochet pattern with you! This project truly pushed me out of my comfort zone, it made me think outside the box, and even challenged me to “crochet without seeing” due to the super fuzzy yarn. But in the end, every challenge was worth it! I grew as a designer, as a crocheter, and as a proud mama! Because my daughter has now ditched all her other toys for this bunny!
The Crochet Design
About a month ago, we played a game on Patreon where we randomly selected an animal and gave it unique characteristics. The result? A pink, fuzzy bunny with a cotton tail, long floppy ears, long legs, adorable overalls, and a tiny toy bunny! Everyone probably pictured something different in their imagination, and I could only hope to match those expectations with my design!

The Fuzzy Yarn Challenge
For the “pink fuzzy bunny” look, I chose Lion Brand Go for Faux, and it was love at first sight! I was so drawn to its softness that I didn’t stop to consider the challenges of working with such a yarn, especially for amigurumi. It was a learning curve! Designing without seeing my stitches, figuring out the yarn’s behavior, and tackling size logistics were all part of the adventure.
If you’re new to working with fuzzy yarn, here are some tips that helped me:
- Use the wrong side out – It looks much fluffier! The right side shows some stitch definition, but if you flip it, you get all that soft fuzziness.
- Follow the step-by-step photos – While stitch visibility is impossible to get, the pictures in this pattern will help you feel confident in your progress.
- Keep notes of your rounds – Since you can’t see the rounds’ definition, count them. I recommend keeping a notebook nearby to mark a “check” every time you finish a round.
- Don’t stress about stitch count mistakes – They won’t be seen! First, mentally count all of them! If you are supposed to have 18 stitches in a round, you arrive at the end of the round, and OPS is 20! You have two choices: frog the last couple of stitches and make 2 random decreases or, my favorite, move on to the next round and make two decreases!
- The same goes for, you arrive at the end of the round and you have 15 stitches instead of 18. Just make those 3 increases anywhere and keep going!
My point is, keep track of the number of rounds! Keep an eye on your stitch marker, and let it go of the rest! Enjoy as your bunny gets in shape!

This time, the premium PDF version is a little different from my usual format. It includes three separate PDF files:
- A full written pattern with 73 step-by-step photos

- Super bulky chenille yarn: Hobbii Baby Snuggle or similar for the Cotton Tail in white. Overall: Two colors (blue and yellow) and Bunny & Basket: Two colors (white and brown)
- Sport weight cotton yarn (for carrot) in green and orange
- Brown and Pink sports-weight yarn to embroider the face,

Finished Size
The finished size for the Snuggle Bunny is approximately 21″ (53cm). The finished for the smaller bunny in the basket is approximately 5,5″ (14 cm) tall, while the basket measures 7cm / 2.6 inches in height and 7.5 cm / 3 inches in circumference. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With a super bulky weight yarn and a 2mm crochet hook, the gauge for 4 rounds (increasing to 24 stitches) measures approximately 2.5″ (5 cm).

3-17 rnd 9sc
- Fold the arms with the edges together and start crocheting the edges closing the arm.

- Cut the yarn and fasten off with invisible. To fasten off invisibly, pull the yarn end through the last stitch and thread it onto a needle. Skip the first stitch and insert the needle into the second stitch of the round from front to back. Then, guide the needle back into the same hole where the yarn end came from, creating a smooth, seamless finish. Gently tighten the stitch and weave in the yarn end securely.
- For the second leg, do not cut the yarn. Instead, chain 4 and continue crocheting to join both legs together, starting the body.

To adjust, find the four central stitches at the front of the body and mark them. This space should serve as the gap between the arms. Modify round 38 accordingly to ensure proper placement.

- Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Leave a small tail for sewing.
- Sew it on top of its head. Position them approximately 3.4 inches (8.5 cm) apart, ensuring they are symmetrically placed.

TAIL

1 rnd 6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 6inc Total 12sts
3 rnd (3sc, 1inc) repeat 3 times Total 15sts

- Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Leave a small tail for sewing it.
- Sew the tail to the center of the bunny’s back, slightly above its legs.
OVERALL
For the overall, we start working from the waist down. With blue chenille yarn and 6mm hook, chain 30. Start crocheting in the first chain, closing a circle.
1 rnd 30sl
2 rnd 2sc, chain 2, skip 1, 24sc, chain 2, skip 1, 2sc
- For the next round, each chain counts as one stitch.
3 rnd 32sc
4 rnd 7sc, 1inc, 16sc, 1inc, 7sc Total 34sts
- In Round 5, crochet 32 sc. Before finishing the round, chain 7 and skip 5 stitches to create the tail opening. This will bring us to the end of Round 5 and the beginning of Round 6. From this point on, the new starting stitch will be where we join the chain with a sc in the round.
5 rnd 32sc, chain 7, skip 5sts, 1sc (here will be our new starting stitch of the round)

6-8 rnd 36sc
9 rnd (5sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 42sts
10 rnd (6sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 48sts
11 rnd 48sc
- Now, let’s start working on the overall legs. Fold the piece in half, ensuring the tail opening is centered.
- Mark 3 stitches on each side, these will remain unworked between the bunny’s legs. (Tip: You can place the piece on the bunny’s body and mark the stitches directly for accuracy.)
- Confirm your stitch count: you should have 21 stitches on each side, excluding the 6 marked stitches.
- Begin crocheting the legs. Instead of working around all 42 stitches, crochet only on the 21 stitches of one side to shape one leg.
12-18 rnd 21sc
- Change to yellow,
19 rnd 21blsl

- Cut the yarn and fasten it off. And move on to the second leg.
- Introduce the blue yarn into one of the remaining 21 stitches from the second leg and repeat rounds 12 to 19.
- Using a tapestry needle, sew the stitches between the legs together, ensuring you join the three remaining stitches on each side.
- Next, locate the ten stitches in the center of the shorts’ waist. Attach the blue yarn by inserting it through the back loop of the first stitch, then begin crocheting in rows. At the end of each row, chain one and turn.
1-2 row 10sc
3 row 4sc, 1dec, 4sc Total 9sts
4 row 9sc
5 row 3sc, 1dec, 4sc Total 8sts
6 row 8sc
7 row 3sc, 1dec, 3sc Total 7sts
8 row 7sc
- Don’t cut the yarn, and pause here to begin working on the overall straps. Set the overall aside.
- With yellow yarn, chain 40.
- Now, return to the overall and change colors from blue to yellow by placing the yellow loop you have on your needle from the 40 chains you worked.
9 row 7sc, chain 40
- Cut the yarn and fasten off by giving a tight knot at the end of the chain.
- Give a tight knot on the other side of the chains as well
- Introduce the straps into the holes on the back of the overall.
OVERALL POCKET
With a yellow yarn chain 6. Skip the first chain and start:

5-6 rnd 16sc
7 rnd (6sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 14sts

14 rnd (4sc, 1dec) repeat 2 times Total 10sts
15 rnd 10sc
- Cut the yarn and fasten it off.
- Make three carrots!

FACE EMBROIDERY
- With brown sport-weight yarn, embroider the eyes approximately 2.6 inches (7 cm) below the ears, keeping a distance of about 1.5 inches (4 cm) between them.
- Using pink sport-weight yarn, embroider the nose just below the eyes, centered on the face. Start by choosing a single point as the base of the nose. From there, stitch downward in straight lines, working from the outer edges toward the center, until you create a triangular shape. Repeat this process multiple times, layering the stitches until the triangle is evenly filled. The stitches should be closely packed for a neat finish.
