Finish size
The finished Mini Crochet Pumpkin measures approximately 1,5″ (4 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With sport-weight yarn and a 2mm crochet hook, the gauge for 5 rounds (increasing to 30 stitches) measures approximately 1.6″ (4.5 cm).

Useful Crochet Tutorials
Before we start, I leave a link to all the stitches tutorials I used to complete this pattern. If you are a complete beginner or not familiar with some techniques, there is a blog post with step-by-step images with descriptions, and video tutorials.
Terms and abbreviations (US terms):
Slip stitch (sl): insert the hook into the stitch and pull up a loop, now, pull it through the loop on your needle.
Single crochet (sc): insert the hook into the stitch, and pull up a loop yarn over the needle, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle, and pull it through the two loops.
Increase (inc): make two single crochet inside the same stitch.
Decrease (dec): Insert the hook into the front loop only of the next two stitches, yarn under, and pull through, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through both loops on the hook.

Mini Crochet Pumpkin Pattern Instructions
Pumpkin Stem
With green yarn chain 4, skip the first chain and make 3sl. Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Leave a small tail for sewing it.
Pumpkin
With green color yarn start,
1 rnd 6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 6inc Total 12sts
3 rnd 12bpsc
- Change to orange,
4 rnd BL(1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
5 rnd (1sc, 1inc) repeat 9 times Total 27sts
6 rnd (2sc, 1inc) repeat 9 times Total 36sts
7 rnd (3sc, 1inc) repeat 9 times Total 45sts
Ribs
- Stop here to sew the pumpkin stem on top of the pumpkin. Sew it in the middle of the first round.
- For the next round, we will start working on the tension round that will be hiding inside the toy. These tension rounds will create the pumpkin ribs.
8 rnd (chain 4, skp 8, join with a blsl) repeat 5 times
- For the next round, you will work only with single crochet. Here you will work 8sc normally, grabbing the 2 loops of the stitch and 1sc, grabbing just the remaining front loop from round 7. This will make the round 8 face inside the pumpkin.
9 rnd (8sc, 1Flsc) repeat 5 times
- For the next two rounds, you are back working sc normally.
10 and 11 rnd 45sc

- Now, you will repeat rounds 8 to 11 one more time. Which will be the rounds 12 to 15.
- Before you continue to round 16, add stuffing material. Here, I suggest you add inside the ribs first, and then in the full pumpkin.
16 rnd (chain 4, skp 8, join with a blsl) repeat 6 times
17 rnd (8sc, 1Flsc) repeat 6 times
18 rnd (3sc, 1dec) repeat 9 times Total 36sts
19 rnd (2sc, 1dec) repeat 9 times Total 27sts
20 rnd (1sc, 1dec) repeat 9 times Total 18sts
- Finish adding stuffing material before continuing.
21 rnd (1sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 12sts
Cut the yarn and fasten it off.

I just love these, I’m making a few of these, the candy corns and the ghosts without the hats to hand out for Halloween! I also tell everyone I meet who crochets or wants to crochet about your amazing site. I did change the way I made the pumpkin to make it closer to the same size as the other two. I have trouble crocheting with anything thinner than worsted weight anymore. Thank you so much for your wonderful patterns!
Thank you so much Elizabeth for liking my work and spreading the word of mouth! It means so much to me! ❤️ And I am proud to know you are adapting the pattern to your liking and needs! Perfect! Very smart and creative! Thank you for taking the time to write me this beautiful comment! ❤️
