I’m beyond excited to share this Mini Scarecrow crochet pattern with you! This design was chosen by my wonderful Patreon members, and I have to admit, I was a bit nervous about how it would turn out. Capturing all the intricate details of a scarecrow in such a tiny amigurumi is no easy task! But I think you’re going to love the final result!

Meet the Other Characters from the Halloween Collections
This mini scarecrow is part of the World of Mini Halloween Amigurumi Collection, alongside spooky friends like the Mini Ghost, Good Witch, Evil Witch, and the Mad Wizard.
You’ll also find another Halloween favorite, the Halloween Cats in Costume Collection, full of charming characters in disguise! And if you’re new around here, don’t miss last year’s hauntingly cute trio: Little Witch, Mini Frankenstein, and of course, the fan-favorite Chubby Black Cat.

The ad-free PDF version includes detailed instructions and print-friendly text-only.
Materials:
- 2mm crochet hook
- Light yellow, blue, red, pale beige, light brown, a little bit of green and a little bit of yellow. I used 100% cotton, sports yarn.
- Black thread to embroider the face.
- Stuffing material
- Scissors
- Sewing needle.
- Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.
Finish size:
The finished Mini Scarecrow Amigurumi measures approximately 2,5″ (6,5 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With sport-weight yarn and a 2mm crochet hook, the gauge for 5 rounds (increasing to 30 stitches) measures approximately 1.6″ (4.5 cm).
Useful Crochet Tutorials
Before we start, I leave a link to all the stitches tutorials I used to complete this pattern. If you are a complete beginner or not familiar with some techniques, there is a blog post with step-by-step images with descriptions, and video tutorials.
Terms and abbreviations (US terms):
Single crochet (sc): insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop yarn over the needle, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle, and pull it through the two loops.
Increase (inc): make two single crochet inside the same stitch.
Decrease (dec): Insert hook into front loop only of next two stitches, yarn under, pull through, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through both loops on the hook.
Back loop Slip stitch (blsl): Insert hook into the back loop only of the stitch, yarn under, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.

FAQ for the Crochet Scarecrow
If you’re comfortable with basic crochet stitches and making amigurumi pieces, you’ll enjoy this pattern. There are a lot of video tutorials to help guide you along! And the tricky part might actually be the surface chain stitch embroidery rather than the crochet itself!
Yes, you can adjust the hook size, just remember that using a larger hook might make your stitches looser and the cat bigger. Remember to adapt the yarn weight to the chosen needle. Which usually leads to the next question
Definitely! You can use any yarn you like. Just keep in mind that changing yarn type and size will affect the final size and texture of your Scarecrow.
