I love making amigurumi that children can actually play with, and this crochet mom doll was especially fun to design. I originally made her with my daughter in mind, and now that she knows she’s going to become a big sister, she loves carrying the little baby wrapped around the doll just like I used to carry her.
This crochet doll is made for imaginative play, with lots of little details that children can interact with. The dress, shoes, giraffe hat, baby, and crocheted wrap can all be removed, so they can dress her up, take care of her baby, and create their own little stories. She stands about 30 cm (12 inches) tall, and I’ve included lots of step-by-step pictures to make this amigurumi doll easy and enjoyable to crochet.

More Crochet Toys for Kids to Make
If you enjoy making crochet toys that are more than just something cute to look at, I have a few more fun designs you might want to try. From adorable rattles for little hands to larger amigurumi with removable clothes and accessories, these patterns are made to inspire imaginative play.
The Giraffe Rattle is a fun choice if you love the giraffe details on this doll, while the Cow Rattle has its own adorable design and is perfect for little ones to hold and play with. And if you’re looking for something bigger, my Snuggle Bunny is about 35 cm (14 inches) tall and comes with a removable jumper, carrots in his pocket, and a little bunny tucked into the basket bag he carries. He’s practically a little character of his own!

Finished Size
The finished crochet doll measures approximately 12″ (30 cm) tall. However, the final size may vary depending on your stitch tension and the materials used.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
