This no-sew crochet chick free pattern is something special, I promise! After creating the crochet Easter Egg Surprise collection (which featured adorable little amigurumi hidden inside a crochet egg, like an angel and a tiny lamb), I wanted to design something different this year. I envisioned a project that would be just as cute, quick to make, and perfect for gifting, stuffing Easter baskets, surprise giveaways, crochet keychains, and more!

Useful Crochet Tutorials
Before we start, I leave a link to all the stitches tutorials I used to complete this pattern. If you are a complete beginner or not familiar with some techniques, there is a blog post with step-by-step images with descriptions and video tutorials.
Gauge
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, so feel free to use a hook size that matches your chosen yarn. I always recommend using a slightly smaller hook to keep the stitches tight and prevent the stuffing from showing through. If needed, adjust your hook size for a neater finish.
However, if you’d like to know the gauge for my chosen yarn and materials, here it is:
With sport-weight yarn and a 2mm crochet hook, the gauge for 5 rounds (increasing to 30 stitches) measures approximately 1.6″ (4.5 cm).

- With orange yarn, embroider the beak: Locate the middle stitch in round 10 of the chick and embroider the beak.
- Using black thread, embroider the eyes one round above the beak, leaving 5 stitches between them.
- Add highlights: With a small amount of white thread, embroider a line on the outer edge of each eye.
- Embroider the feet: Using orange yarn and starting two rounds under the beak, embroider three lines under the chick. Leave one stitch of space between them at the top, and have all three lines meet at a single stitch at the bottom. Each line should span three rounds in length.
- Add blush: With pink yarn, embroider a small straight line (about the size of a stitch) below each eye.
