Chubby Dragon free amigurumi pattern
Materials:
- 2mm crochet hook
- Two shades of color yarn. I used light and dark green for one and light and dark pink for the other.
- Black thread for embroidering the eyes.
- Stuffing material
- Scissors
- Sewing needle.
- Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.

HEAD
With green yarn start,
1rnd 6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 6inc Total 12sts
3 rnd (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
4 rnd (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts
5 rnd (3sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 30sts
6 rnd (4sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 36sts
7 rnd (5sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 42sts
8 rnd (6sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 48sts
9 to 15 rnd 48sc
16 rnd (6sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 42sts

• Cut the yarn, fasten off and hide the remaining tail inside the toy.
PAWS
With light green yarn start,
1 row 6sc in a magic ring
2 row 6inc Total 12sts
3 row 12bpsc
4 row 12sc
• Change to dark green color yarn.
5 to 7 row 12sc
• Cut the yarn, fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
• Make four of this detail in total.
SPIKES
With light green yarn start,
1 rnd 3sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 3inc Total 6sts
3 rnd (1sc, 1inc) repeat 3 times Total 9sts
4 rnd 9sc
• Cut the yarn, fasten off and leave a tail for sewing it
• Make 5 following the same instructions.
EARS
With light green yarn start,
1 rnd 3sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 3inc Total 6sts
3 rnd (1sc, 1inc) repeat 3 times Total 9sts
4 rnd (2sc, 1inc) repeat 3 times Total 12sts
5 rnd 12sc
6 rnd (2sc, 1dec) repeat 3 times Total 9sts
• Cut the yarn, fasten off and leave a tail for sewing it.
• Make another one following the same instructions.
TAIL
With dark green start,
1 rnd 6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 6sc
3 rnd 6inc Total 12sts
4 rnd 12sc
5 rnd 6sc, 6inc Total 18sts
6 to 9 rnd 18sc
• Cut the yarn and fasten off.
• Leave a tail for sewing it.
RIGHT WING
With light green yarn chain 13. Skip the first chain and start,
1 row 2sl, 3sc, 3hdc, 4dc
• Cut the yarn and fasten off
• From here, start working only in the back loop of the stitch
• Attach the dark green yarn in the back loop of the first slip stitch, chain 1 and start,
2 row 2sl, 3sc, 1inc hdc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1inc dc, 1dc Total 12sts
• Cut the yarn and fasten off
• Attach the light green yarn in the back loop of the first slip stitch, chain 1 and start
3 row 2sl, 3sc, 1inc hdc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1inc dc, 1dc Total 12sts
• Cut the yarn and fasten off
• Attach the dark green yarn in the back loop of the first slip stitch, chain 1 and start
3 row 2sl, 3sc, 1inc hdc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1inc dc, 1dc Total 12sts
• Cut the yarn and fasten off.
LEFT WING
• For the left wing, you will repeat the same instructions of the right wing but, instead of working in the back loop, you will work in the front loop of the stitch.
• The wrong side will be facing to the front when you are sewing it to the chubby dragon.
SNOUT
With green yarn chain 5. Skip the first chain and start,
1 rnd (3sc, 4sc in the same chain, 2sc, 3sc in same chain Total 12sts
2 rnd 1inc, 3sc, 1inc, 1sc, 1inc) repeat 2 times Total 16sts
3 and 4 rnd 16sc
• Cut the yarn and fasten off. Leave a tail for sewing.
CHEST DETAIL
With light green yarn chain 5. Skip the first chain and start,
note: at the end of each row, chain 1 and turn.
1 row 4sc,
2 row 1inc, 2sc, 1inc Total 6sts
3 row 6sc
4 row 1inc, 4sc, 1inc Total 8sts
5 row 8sc
6 row 1dec, 4sc, 1dec Total 6sts
7 row 1dec, 2sc, 1dec Total 4sts
• Make single crochet around the detail.
• Cut the yarn, fasten off and leave a tail for sewing it.
ASSEMBLY
- Use pins to fasten the paws around the central round of the chubby body. Sew the paws.
- Pin the chest detail with the big edge near the paw and the starting chain near the top. The chest detail will go up to round 10 of the chubby body.
- Then, sew the snout in between rounds 7 to 10.
- Sew the tail in the middle of the backside, one round above the paws and going up in a length of 7 rounds.
- Sew the wings beside the tail leaving 4 stitches between them
- Sew the ears starting in round 5 of the body and finishing in round 8. Leave 6 stitches between them.
- Sew the spikes starting from the edge of the tail and finishing between the eyes.
- Embroider the eyes 1 round under the spikes with 5 stitches between them.
- With light green color yarn make the eyebrows 1 stitch beside the eyes taking two rounds length.
- With the same thread, embroider the nose in the snout. Make two lines in the first corner of the snout and two more lines in the opposite corner of the snout. Leave a distance of 3 stitches between them.
- With dark green, embroider 3 lines in the chest detail. Leaving one row of the distance between them.
