Baby Unicorn free amigurumi pattern
Materials:
- 8mm and 2mm crochet hook
- Chenille yarn of your preference colors white for the body and two extra colors for the mane, tail, and paws. For this baby Unicorn, I used the brand Alize Velluto. Similar yarn weight and texture suggestion can be Universal Yarn and Creative World crafts.
- Black sports weight for the eyes and yellow for the horn.
- Stuffing material
- Scissors
- Sewing needle.
- Or, you can use safety eyes! The position is at the end of this post.
Finish size: 14cm or 5,5 inches with the ears.

Terms and abbreviations (US terms):
Single crochet (sc): insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop, you will have two loops on the hook, yarn over the needle and pull it through the two loops.
Increase (inc): make two single crochet inside the same stitch.
Decrease (dec): Insert hook into front loop only of next two stitches, yarn under, pull through, you will have two loops on the hook. Yarn under and pull through both loops on the hook.
Front loop (FL): Insert hook into the front loop only of the stitch, and continue with the stitch written in front of the abbreviation FL.
Bobble stitch (BO): Yarn over, insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over again and pull through the first 2 loops (you’ll have 2 loops on the hook.) Repeat 5 times and you will have 6 loops on your hook, yarn over one last time and pull inside all loops on the needle.
HEAD and BODY
With white color start,
1 rnd 6sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 6inc Total 12sts
3 rnd (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
4 rnd (2sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 24sts
5 rnd 10sc, (1inc hdc)x4, 10sc Total 28sts
6 rnd 10sc, 8hdc, 10sc
7 rnd 10sc, (1dec)x4, 10sc Total 24sts
8 rnd 12dec Total 12sts
• Stop here to start adding stuffing material.
• For the next round, you will work all stitches on the Front Loop only. From round 10 on, go back to working normally.
• Attach the pink yarn (or the contrast color you choose for the paws) and work with both colors. Change to the pink yarn when crocheting the bobble stitch.
9 rnd FL(4sc, 1BO, 4sc, 1BO, 2sc)
10 rnd (1sc, 1inc) repeat 6 times Total 18sts
11 rnd 18sc
12 rnd 4sc, 1FLBO, 5sc, 1FLBO, 6sc
13 rnd (1sc, 1dec) repeat 6 times Total 12sts
• Finish adding stuffing material.
• Cut the yarn, fasten it off and hide the remaining tail inside the toy.
EARS
With the same color as the body, start
1 rnd 3sc in a magic ring
2 rnd 3inc Total 6sts
3 rnd (2sc, 1inc) repeat 2 times Total 8sts
4 rnd 8sc
• Cut the yarn, fasten it off, and leave a tail for sewing it.
• Make another one following the same instructions.
HORN
With yellow sports yarn and 2mm crochet hook start,
1 rnd 6sc in a magic ring
• From here until the end of the horn, you will work the stitches grabbing the back loop only.
2 rnd 6blsc
3 rnd BL(1sc, 1inc) repeat 3 times Total 9sts
4 rnd 9blsc
5 rnd BL(2sc, 1inc) repeat 3 times Total 12sts
6 and 7 rnd 12blsc
• Cut the yarn and fasten it off. Leave a tail for sewing.
MANE AND TAIL
Mane: chain 8. Skip the first chain and make 7sl.
• Make 3 in total using the unicorn color. Cut the yarn and leave a small tail for sewing.
Tail: chain 6. Skip the first chain and make 5sl.
• Make 3 in total using the unicorn color. Cut the yarn and leave a small tail for sewing.
ASSEMBLY
- Sew the ears starting from round 2 and finishing in round 5.
- Embroider the eyes in round 4 leaving 3 stitches between them.
- Sew the horn one round above the eyes.
- Sew the three strings of mane between the horn and the ear, and the three strings of the tail between rounds 11 and 12 taking one stitch per string, sewing one beside the other.
